Essie Over the Edge

September 25, 2011

I love this dark, shimmery color.

Essie Over the Edge, 3 coats. I feel like if you like hematite, you will love this polish. I think it also looks like black pearls. You know how they can have a pink or green cast to them? Indoor light seems to bring this out.

I don’t know if it shows up in this photo or not, but I tried! I do love these dark colors with a bit of shimmer to go on short nails. By the way, this one was called Over the Top before the retail release. It appears to be the exact same color, though.

Sinful Colors Sale!

September 16, 2011

Walgreens had Sinful Colors for 99 cents… my stash will never end! I picked up some staples and then a duochrome to try out because 99 CENTS! but I was most excited about Nirvana:

So ridiculously in love with this color. Three coats are shown, but I think next time I could do two. The shade is a greyed-out milk chocolate, reminding me of tweedy, woolly winter items. A taupe-brown with enough contrast to be dramatic on my skin but light enough to look grey/brown instead of brown/black.

There’s probably a million dupes – it’s similar to Essie Mink Muffs, OPI You Don’t Know Jacques, Essie Hot Coco, and a little less grey than Chanel Particulière. In other words: this is my Nirvana. There may be many like it, but this one is mine was 99 cents!

Chop chop! and Sally Hansen Wet Cement

August 31, 2011

My nails were peeling like mad at the tips, so it was time to trim. I don’t know whether to blame acetone or the hauling boxes I’ve been doing lately. I constantly forget how much I like having nubbins, though. Kinda like I forget that I love creme polish. I guess it feel less inspiring in the bottle than a glittery-shimmery-multi-chromey lovely, but on the nails?

Chic. Cremes feel chic. For the record, this was Sally Hansen in Wet Cement, three coats, performed in the dark. I was catching up on Breaking Bad, what can I say? Application was easy-peasy (which is the case for 2 out of the 3 Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polishes I own.)

I can’t say that I think the wear on these is XTREME or even extreme… they last an average (for me) 2-3 days before chipping. That’s with topcoat, mind.

And who wants to see my stubby fingers? No one? OKAY!

Not that I recommend polishing in the dark, but Breaking Bad is madness.
